Pennypack Chamber Orchestra

 

Founded in 1999, The Pennypack Chamber Orchestra is the only instrumental ensemble in the Greater Northeast Area of Philadelphia, PA devoted to the classical music repertoire. The twelve-member orchestra specializes in music from the late Renaissance to the early classical period. It is also the orchestra in residence at the Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church where it plays for Masses at major liturgical events and throughout the year.

Past programs have included Handle’s Water Music, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons the Bach Orchestra Suites and Violin Concertos and works by Telemann, Mozart, Rossi, Buxtehude and Schutz. It has also performed the Bach B minor Mass and the St. John Passion. Martin Knoblauch, Founder and Music Director conducts the orchestra from the harpsichord and organ.

The Orchestra is in the process of performing all the Bach Cantatas in conjunction with members of the Northeast Oratorio Society. The is ow entering its third year, and the Orchestra plans three to four concerts per year each presenting three to four of the Cantatas.
